"Greatest Generation Gathering" Reception to Honor World War II Veterans

State Representative Stan Jordan, Chairman of the Committee on Military and Veterans' Affairs in the Florida House of Representatives, and WJCT Public Broadcasting will host a reception in honor of the "Greatest Generation" World War II veterans. The reception will be followed by a special sneak preview of the latest documentary from renowned film-maker, Ken Burns, entitled "THE WAR".

"We are excited to be a co-sponsor of this special event with WJCT Public Broadcasting", said Representative Jordan. "It is important to offer our sincere thanks to the World War II "Greatest Generation". Nationwide, we are losing over 1,800 World War II veterans each day.

The reception and sneak preview is scheduled as follows:

Time: 6:00-7:00 PM Reception (wonderful food and WWII music)
7:15 PM A special World War II sneak preview by WJCT
Place: WJCT Studios, 100 Festival Park Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32202
This event will conclude at approximately 8:30 PM

ABOUT THE EVENT:

  • WJCT will present to the community a sneak preview of the Ken Burns documentary "The War".

  • The preceding reception will be a chance to provide a "Greatest Generation Gathering".

  • This gathering will provide the opportunity for old and young, active duty and retired military, community members and relatives to say "Thank You".

  • This will not just be a reception/program; it will be a memory for all who attend!

  • Good Food, 1940's music, and the chance to meet first hand many World War II Veterans will be an experience to remember.
